The two examined the dead body, until the sailor's eyes open as he grabbed the Captain's arm. A gold- trimmed carriage raced over cobblestones up from a harbor as the old castaway was brought to the royal palace in Cádiz, where he was shown before King Ferdinand (Sebastian Armesto). As the Sailor gave Ferdinand a logbook, the two fishermen told of the Sailor's stories of having sailed on Ponce de León's ship. Upon seeing an archaic symbol in the logbook, Ferdinand realized that the Sailor's stories, as well as the legends of the Fountain of Youth, were true. Having paid off the driver, Jack had himself thrown into the paddy wagon with Gibbs. Throughout the ride, Gibbs informed Jack about the rumors of him recruiting a crew for his ship in the Captain's Daughter pub, which intrigued Jack into finding the imposter. The two also briefly talked about Jack's search for the Fountain of Youth, looking at Jack's map. As the carriage suddenly stopped, Jack and Gibbs were surprised to find themselves facing down a detachment of Royal Guards in the courtyard of St. James's Palace; the driver had received a pouch of coins by a Guard. Ever- hopeful, Gibbs asked Jack if this was part of his plan. However, after the captain of the guards slammed Jack's head with a rifle, causing Jack to crumple into Gibbs' arms, Jack simply said "No.". The meeting with King George in St. James's Palace. Gibbs was then shoved back into the wagon, the door slammed shut, while Jack was dragged into St. James's Palace to meet with King George II (Richard Griffiths). During the first part of the meeting, there was confusion over if Jack was the real Jack Sparrow. Though Jack tried denying it, stating the rumors of him recruiting a crew were false, the King ignored them as they went to the matter at hand. The King and his ministers asked Jack to guide an expedition to find the Fountain of Youth before the Spanish, in which Jack accepted on the condition of a ship and crew being provided. Jack was then introduced to the captain of the expedition—Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), now a privateer of the Crown and now having a peg leg. Upon being asked by Jack of the fate of the Black Pearl, Barbossa revealed that he lost the Pearl, and his leg, in battle. Jack angrily reacted to this revelation, which made the King's guards restrain him. As Barbossa and the King prepared to continue with their mission, Jack made one of his legendary escapes, while surrounded by royal guards and a room full of shocked advisors. Despite being outnumbered, Jack was able to escape as the monarch was left stunned by Jack's escape. Outwitting the guards, Jack was able to escape the palace and, after robbing a noblewoman, be in a carriage chase through London's streets. He was able to escape the King's Guards, except for one, who aimed his rifle right at him. Jack was saved by his father, Captain Teague (Keith Richards). At the Captain's Daughter, having heard that his son was heading to the Fountain, Teague informed Jack of the Profane Ritual, as well as one of the items needed for it: two silver Chalices. Although Teague advised Jack against setting sail until he knew every detail, he pointed Jack to Scrum (Stephen Graham), sitting with a group of sailor- types, saying they had a ship and were signing up sailors. Before leaving, Teague warned Jack that the Fountain would "test" him. Jack Sparrow and Angelica fighting the Royal Guards in the Captain's Daughter. Across the room, Scrum finished an lick on his mandola, until Jack questioned him about his recruiting a crew. Scrum corrected him in saying that Jack Sparrow promised a modest venture, before accusing Jack himself being an imposter. This prompted Jack to ask if he knew who he was, which ended with Scrum telling the other volunteered sailors that "Here's some bloke what forgot his own name!" As they laughed at Jack, Derrick bursts out proudly, saying he's "sailing with Sparrow" and asked for a drink. Jack stepped forward, noticing a silhouette, in the form of Jack Sparrow himself. Sneaking into the storeroom of the Captain's Daughter, Jack came face- to- face with the imposter. The two Jacks draw their swords and engaged with in a stalemate duel. Jack soon realized who the imposter was—his former love, Angelica (Penélope Cruz). The two had a brief reunion with Angelica asking Jack about the Fountain of Youth. Suddenly, the King's guards arrive and engage Jack and Angelica in a fight. Jack and Angelica were able to escape by jumping into the River Thames. As the two go ashore, Jack inquired about the ritual, which Angelica knew about, and what was required. Angelica told Jack that a mermaid was needed as her associate drugs Jack with a dart which instantly knocks him out. Gibbs meeting with Hector Barbossa in the Execution Courtyard. At the execution courtyard, Joshamee Gibbs found himself being dragged by two guards. Two white- wigged officers, Groves (Greg Ellis) and Gillette (Damian O'Hare) and Privateer Barbossa, stood waiting at the gallows. With a hanging rope draped over his shoulder, Barbossa came to question Gibbs about Jack Sparrow's whereabouts. Realizing Jack was headed to the Fountain of Youth, Barbossa threatened to hang Gibbs unless if he'd offer anything for the search for the Fountain. Gibbs then pulled out the map Jack had shown him in the paddy wagon. Barbossa commanded Gibbs to hand the map over, but Gibbs grabbed a lantern and smashed it on the map. As the map was in flames, Barbossa called Gibbs a fool. However, Gibbs made himself necessary, revealing that he studied the map and had memorized every route and destination. About five days later, Jack woke up aboard the Queen Anne's Revenge, the ship of the notorious pirate, Blackbeard (Ian Mc. Shane). While working on deck, Scrum told Jack of the crewmen who were zombiefied as well as the imprisonment of Philip Swift (Sam Claflin), a missionary captured in a raid. Upon learning that their First Mate was Angelica, Jack went to confront her. Angelica convinced Jack that she was able to con Blackbeard into believing that she was his daughter. She also revealed that he wanted to find the Fountain of Youth because of a prophecy, foreseen by the Quartermaster, that revealed his death at the hands of a one legged man. Aboard the Providence. Barbossa spots Spanish galleons from aboard the Providence. Meanwhile, Barbossa had Gibbs brought to the helm of the HMS Providence to provide a heading. Gibbs stated that they were going the right direction as three Spanish galleons, belonging to the Spaniard's crew, were sailing towards them. Barbossa, Groves and Gillette immediately ordered the crewmen to battle stations.
